ALDWYCH REOPENS 2027

Produced by Subline. Limited edition of 250. Circa November 2025. Measures 21cm x 15cm. Signed and numbered (170/250) hidden behind a peel-and-reveal sticker. See backlit images to see signature and number. Condition: As new.

The second limited edition spoof tube map issued by Subline and distributed around central London Underground stations in February 2026. (confirmed by Subline Instagram page).

This convincing leaflet announces the reopening of Aldwych Station on the Piccadilly Line (located on the Strand and closed in 1994). Whilst both high improbable and completely pointless, the clever leaflet presents the imminent redevelopment and reopening of Aldwych, complete with mock-ups and detail around the development. There is a lot of cool details in this leaflet that might excite a London Underground enthusiast, i’ll break it down:

Map Side: A faint background map - using Beck’s late 1933 design - has the extension of the Piccadilly Line to Aldwych emphasised boldly in Piccadilly Line blue. Two mock-up images show the currently disused entrances on Strand and Surrey Street brought back to life, maintaining much of the historic Leslie Green tile work. A paragraph describes the partnership with KCL, LSE (who each have a campus within meters of the station) and makes a clever link to the Strand Aldwych project that saw the pedestrianisation of the Strand a few years ago. A quote from Sadiq Kahn, Mayor of London is shown top left reading “This is one of the coolest things happening in our city right now”.

Front Cover Panel: A simple and clever representation of Aldwych as it appeared on the 1933 map, complete with accurate branding and a Strand Aldwych logo.

Left Cover Panel: A historic photo of the station in use back in the early 20th Century is accompanied by some information on the history of the station.

Middle Cover Panel: A layered photo montage shows: Aldwych being used as an shelter in WWII; some of the unique tiles found in the station; A platform wall showing Station Closed posters - these are tagged by the notorious TOX and 10Foot, a feature that appears in all three of Subline’s maps (a friend or fan perhaps?). At the bottom there is a peel-and-reveal sticker which hides the signature and edition number (presumably to keep the deception going for longer before folks realise its a spoof. The sticker itself is a cool digital rendering of the Leslie Green platform tiles.
