This superbly executed leaflet design for BOAC (British Overseas Airways Corporation) presents the globe across three panels with Britain front and centre on the cover. The iconic speedbird logo features on all three panels in vibrant yellow. The artist has positioned placeholders for copy on two panels. The design and typeface of the BOAC logo suggests this design dates to the late 1940s/early 1950s.
Imperial Airways was merged with British Airways in 1939 to form BOAC who would also adopt the Imperial airways 'speedbird' logo. It was in the late 1940s that 'British Overseas Airways Corporation' made a strong marketing effort to rebrand as ‘BOAC’ commissioning a series of posters heavily branded with the speedbird logo and presenting itself as a global airline.
