Vitreous enamel and steel sign Late 1970s/ early 1980s presented in a wooden frame. Measures 65cm x 65cm (25”). Condition: Superb, some small marks consistent with being in situ for decades.
This sign was displayed on the track-side wall of ‘Marylebone’ London Underground station, which is served by the Bakerloo Line. There is a mainline station at Marylebone that opened in 1899. The Underground station at Marylebone opened on the Baker Street and Waterloo Railway (Bakerloo) in 1907 under the name ‘Great Central’ and renamed Marylebone in 1917.
