Published by Partington & Co Ltd for Metropolitan District Railway. Two sided pocket map, Two-colour lithograph. Folded as issued. Measures 28.5cm x 22.5cm. Information and advertising printed on verso. Condition: Outstanding unused example in near-perfect condition.

In 1883, the Metropolitan District Railway (MDR) introduced the "District Railway Miniature Map of London" to supplement their large format issues. There were earlier MDR paper maps (from 1873) but these were usually printed specifically for guide books and publications.

This issue dates to 1884, upon the opening of the 'Inner Circle Completion Railway' between Mansion House (MDR) and Aldgate (MR) - Thus achieving the mission of the MDR in creating a uninterrupted loop with the MR. This is therefore the first appearance for Cannon Street, Monument and Mark Lane stations. On the back, the third edition of the large format map is advertised (released in 1884).
